Apologies

Sorry that we have not posted anything since Tue. We have
been really busy. We are in Dangriga safely and will have sometime to catch up. I will do the best I can but I will leave the details to our "power" writers.

From my perspective we have had a great week. There are so many details we need to share when we return. One of the highlights was the village "potluck" meal last evening. There must have been 400+ people fed. The team cooked chicken and hot dogs on the new grill that Tom Hayden and the men built earlier in the week. There was also coleslaw and baked beans prepared. The village women all brought food and it was delicious. The heavy rain did not deter the eating, especially the gibnut (tasty!). Bro Sho said that it was the best thing that has happened in the village for the church. Other churches have meals but they are not open to everyone.

Before we left today there were many expressions of thanks and gifts. we have several that wanted to stay "forever".

I must say that this team has been really great and have worked very hard at their assigned tasks and have honored God in many other ways also.

It is because of Christ.

Today Lynn Palmer and Jennifer Pentecost set up a clinic at the church in Red Bank and treated about 120 people. The have done an awesome job with healthcare during this trip. Jennifer is jumping in with both feet.

The men of the village continued to enjoy watching Tom and Ron work and fix things. They are teaching them very valuable things that will help after we leave the village.

VBS went great today! The children of Red Bank had lots of great activities and fun. Bob and Pam have been taping like crazy, they have great videos to show.

Everyone is working hard! God is being glorified here in the village.

July 18

We had a great day today. The VBS got off to a great start with about 300 women, children, and men. The children had stories, did crafts, and played games. Nathan, Jenna, Erika, Josh Weldon, Danielle, Ashley, Knoll, Saundra, and Pam have worked hard to get the VBS together. Betty and Angela presented a wonderful women's class. Many of them are now staying to talk with us. We have come a long way in the relationship building with them. We have truly become sisters in Christ.

For the first time, we had a men's activity in the day time. Ron Fuqua and Tom Hayden (New Mexico) did small engine repair and welding classes. They had at least 12 men come. Kim Combs worked in Agriculture and did soil sampling with some of the farmers.

The older children are working with us to write books and paint signs. We are studying the sermon on the mount. We have over 50 in the 11-15 age group doing these projects. George, Margaret, Patty Fricke, Starr Hayden, and Tammy are working on this project.

The medical team (Lynn Palmer and Jennifer Pentecost) bought medicine today for several sick folks in the village. Tomorrow we set up a clinic. We are going house to house handing out a bag of medical supplies which are very hard to come by here. We have over 100 bags packed.

The t-shirt give-away went great. We had over 500 t-shirts.

Twelve teachers came to a teacher workshop for three hours this afternoon. They are very grateful for the training and the materials. Betty, Saundra, George, Margaret, Eddie, and Starr have been active in this endeavor.

Mayo is making sure that we all get to the right places and the teams working smoothly.

We are all fine... a little sun burned and a few bug bites, but having a great time. Continue to pray for us.

hello everyone-we have hit the ground running today. we went to church this morning and then went back in the afternoon for children's church. some of us had to stay back at the hotel to sort things out for tomorrow. as you can see the children are happy we are here.

The Team

Our visit to the Mayan ruins at Xuanhauinch (sp) really got us ready for the week. The people we are working with ancestors build these structures.

New Blog Spot

Because of issues with the previous blog we are creating this new blog. we had a good day at Red Bank and everyone is anxious to get VBS started tomorrow. It getting cloudy and we expect to see some rain. Hopefully this new blog will not have our previous problems and we can get some pictures uploaded and others the ability to post.
